Our Mission
The Notre Dame Academy SSC aims to empower students by providing opportunities to acquire strategies that cultivate effective learning practices. Our purpose is to enhance independent learning, student agency, and academic skills. Rooted in NDA's school mission, we strive to offer transformative experiences that prepare students for life by fostering the skills and competencies our students need to thrive academically and personally.
Our Objectives
The Notre Dame Academy SSC is dedicated to supporting students through the following key objectives:
- Strategic, Targeted Instruction: Tailored academic support based on each student's individual needs, both academically and socioemotionally.
- Course-Specific Support: Development of initiatives like peer mentoring and peer tutoring to strengthen academic skills across learning environments.
- Partnership with Faculty and Families: Collaborating with teachers and families to provide holistic, student-centered support.
Key Services
Eligibility Information
- All students can access the peer supported programs available through the SSC. This includes our peer mentoring program, our individual peer tutoring program, our drop in tutoring program and our after school executive functioning support - provided by NDA Learning Specialist Sharon Plickert.
SSC Statistics
- 17% of NDA students are currently supported through an ISSP.
- Most common types of accommodations:
63% utilize separate testing space in the LC to minimize distractions.
81% utilize extended time on assessments.
56% of students are currently utilizing support through the SSC (17% ISSP, 19% peer mentoring, and 20% for peer tutoring). - 2 current Student Support Staff.
