Notre Dame Virtual School

The goal of the Notre Dame Virtual School is to facilitate collaboration among sponsored ministries of the Sisters of Notre Dame and enable sharing of resources among teachers and students. My hope is that the Notre Dame Virtual School collaboration will deepen our sense of sponsorship and provide opportunities for students and faculty from diverse cultures to participate together in meaningful educational experiences.
NDVS offers students the opportunity to take online classes and projects. Students take the classes for many reasons: to have an online educational experience, for extra credit, as an extra activity, to prepare for college. Two of the most popular classes are Women in America and Popular Poets. Online projects run for four weeks and are incorporated into the curriculum. Some of the most popular online projects include the Influenza of 1918, Poet’s Voice, St. Julie Billiart, Bioethics, and Dorothy Stang SND.

Notre Dame Virtual School uses a theme each month to focus on a globaltopic or issue. The themes for the 2009-2010 academic year include World Peace, World Day of Social Justice, and World Day of Cultural Diversity, the eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals, and Refugees.
