Grading and Evaluation
Grading and Evaluation
Report cards that include letter grades and evaluative comments for each course a student is taking are sent to parents/guardians on a quarterly basis according to a schedule specified in the school calendar. Interim reports are sent to parents/guardians during the first and third quarters; during the second quarter, parent-teacher conferences ordinarily replace interim reports; and during the fourth quarter, interim reports are usually issued only for courses in which students are experiencing academic difficulty.
Numerical class rank is not determined. Grade point average based on a 4.0 scale is computed as needed for college applications. Courses are not weighted.
Competition among students for grades is discouraged; rather, each student is encouraged to set high standards for herself. Thus, Notre Dame Academy neither places students on an honor roll nor sponsors an honor society.
