Head of School Search
July 3, 2017
In January 2017, Principal Sr. Ann Morrison announced that at the end of the school year she would be retiring as principal of Notre Dame Academy Worcester after over four decades as teacher and principal. Sr. Ann announced her retirement with these words:
“I feel very engaged in the Academy’s mission; however, I believe that there are natural rhythms in an organization’s development, and NDA is at one of those moments. I am confident that with the momentum and commitment to the current and future generations of college preparatory students that the Academy has always maintained, along with a new trajectory that supports improvements and innovations aligned with the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Notre Dame Academy will continue to thrive. This is a good time for a new Principal to take the helm and lead the Academy to its next stage of development.”
As such, the NDA Board of Trustees announced in May 2017 that Kathryn Woodson Barr had been appointed as Interim Head of School. On acceptance of the position Kathryn stated her goal is “to build on the work of Sr. Ann as a premier academic institution for young women…I look forward to getting to know the NDA community and joining with them as we make this fabulous school even better." Kathryn starts her new role in July 2017.
The Board of Trustees is now tasked with identifying the Notre Dame Academy permanent head of school. NDA has engaged the search firm Carney Sandoe and Associates to assist and has identified eleven community members to participate in the search process. The Board has asked Lisa Mancini to lead the Search Committee. As the search progresses, the Search Committee will post updates here to keep everyone engaged and informed. In the interim, questions can be directed to Lisa at email@example.com.
