Guidance Services
Notre Dame Academy's guidance program assists each student throughout her four years at Notre Dame and helps her to make appropriate decisions regarding post-secondary plans. Counselors offer personal and adjustment counseling, career and college guidance, and academic advising.
The student meets with her counselor periodically each year to review her progress, reflect on her goals, and choose a program of studies for the following year. When a student is experiencing difficulty, counselors work closely with her, her teachers, and her parents.
Counselors arrange the standardized testing program (NEDT, PSAT, SAT I, SAT II, ACT, Advanced Placement) for classes and assist students to interpret results and plan for the future.
During grades 11 and 12, the counselors guide students through their process of self-evaluation, college research, and college choice. Many college representatives visit NDA each year and speak with interested students. The guidance office maintains a college and career center with print materials, CDs, and videos. Students can practice for standardized tests such as the SAT on programs installed on computers in the library as well as in the computer lab. Several computer programs that focus on careers/college resources, college application materials, and financial aid materials are available to the students. During senior year students have the opportunity to meet with college representatives who visit the Academy.
